The 1988 FZ600 was the last of the line before the Deltabox FZR600 replaced it. It was Yamaha's first serious 600 cc race-replica, putting the air-cooled four from the earlier FJ600 into a lighter sport chassis derived from the FZ400R. It handled keenly and weighed little, but gave up seat comfort, ride quality and smoothness at cruising speed. It is not the same bike as the later liquid-cooled, Deltabox FZR600.
